[Editor's note: this is a *great* sign of momentum and support -- please forward this newsletter and plan to spend some time and money on Denise's campaign. The election is September 11th and we're raising dollars and hours now. We're phone banking every night and precinct walking every day. Host a house party, even if you don't live in the district (or even in LA). Raise $500 this week. This is a people's campaign, where Denise's opponents are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of their own money. Let's elect a real champion to the LA City Council!]

Dear Sierra Club Member,

There are a number of good candidates running for your city council
seat. From the point of view of the Earth, one stands out--Denise
Robb. As a founder of the Surfrider Foundation and as Chair of the
largest Chapter in the Sierra Club, the 56,000 member Angeles
Chapter
, I have never felt better about personally endorsing a
candidate for political office. Denise is not a career politician;
she is an environmental activist and a leader. She would be the
strongest voice for the environment that ever sat on the Los Angeles
City Council. Other Sierra Club leaders and I will be working on
Denise's campaign. I know, as a Sierra Club member, you are concerned
about livable cities, wild places and pollution prevention. Denise is
a Big Picture person, from the wetlands in West LA to the Miracle
Mile in Wilshire.

Please join me in supporting her campaign. The maximum contribution a
person can donate is $1,000. If you make a financial contribution,
we need your employer and occupation, as well as name and address.
Please ask friends and co-workers to contribute, or host a house
party fundraiser. In addition, we need your help with phone banking
and precinct walking. We are building a winning strategy that will
target every community in the district. Join us.

Denise will represent the 4th District well. Thank you for helping
to make this dream a reality.

Sincerely,

Gordon LaBedz, M.D.
